Overachievers and Underachievers
Overachievers and Underachievers
Having an ambitious and driven child or teen is exciting as a parent. Witnessing successes and advancements that are internally motivated can be exhilarating. However, sometimes children and teens become so driven and so ambitious that they lose site of the purpose and pleasure that they used to find in the activity. Pressure can become intoxicating for children and teens but eventually can become highly damaging both physically and mentally. At Equilibria Kids, we help children and teens learn to manage the demands they make of themselves. We also work closely with parents, coaching them to help their child/teen develop necessary life management skills for long-term success and reduced emotional and physical impact.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, sometimes children seem to underachieve and appear to be less ambitious or driven than the adults in their lives would hope for. Understanding the root of low drive and ambition is very important because in some cases, it can be intrinsically tied to feelings of inadequacy, depression and low self-worth. At Equilibria Kids, we work with children and teens that seem to be struggling with everyday pressures to help them develop better life management skills and develop different perspectives on the stressors in their lives. We also work closely with parents to help them help their child/teen to develop long lasting motivation and increased drive for personal success.
If your child or teen is overachieving or underachieving, we can help.
