Low Self-Esteem
Low Self-Esteem
Having healthy self-esteem is a protective factor throughout life. The building blocks for positive self-esteem and self-worth begin the moment a child is born and center around a child’s expectation that they will be accepted and valued by the adults and peers that are important to them.
Children and teens with a healthy sense of self feel cared about, accepted and are able to care for others that are important to them. Children and teens with poor self-esteem often feel dismissed, uncared for, and may have difficulty developing positive feelings for others. Poor self-esteem is often prominent in feelings of anxiety and depression and other problems that can be detrimental to a child’s/teen’s emotional health.
At Equilibria Kids, we work with children and adolescents to help them boost positive feelings about themselves and others. We help them strengthen their own self-worth and challenge their perceptions that may contribute to negative self-thinking. Helping children and adolescents develop and enhance their own self-worth and esteem is imperative as it forms an important foundation for future experiences, relationships and successes.
