About Toriann Clarke

My approach to counseling starts with the belief that everyone has the ability to change for the better and the ability to define what “better” means to them. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. When working with children and families I utilize Mindfulness-Based Family Play Therapy (MBFPT) that is a collaborative approach to counseling. This means that there will be individual sessions, family sessions, parent meetings, acknowledgment of the challenges and successes, and even work with siblings when deemed necessary. MBFPT is a modality that works well for children who oftentimes lack the verbal skills needed to express themselves. Play therapy is a way for children to learn to better express themselves as well as for parents to be able to better understand children.

Anxiety vs. Stress: How to Tell the Difference and Why It Matters

Author: Toriann Clarke We often use the words anxiety and stress interchangeably. “I’m so stressed about this meeting,” might just as easily be “I’m anxious about this meeting.” While they can feel similar in the moment racing thoughts, tension in your chest, difficulty concentrating, they’re not actually the same. Understanding the difference between anxiety and […]

Author: Toriann Clarke Self-care has become a buzzword, neatly packaged in pastel aesthetics and sold alongside bath bombs and wellness journals. But beneath the surface of “Instagrammable” routines and curated content lies a deeper truth: real self-care isn’t always picture-perfect. In fact, sometimes it doesn’t feel good at all. Many of us have reached a […]

High-Functioning Depression: When It’s Not Just Sadness

Author: Toriann Clarke They show up. They meet deadlines. They smile. They check in on others. From the outside, they look like they have it all together. But inside?
