The ADHD Center of Excellence is Excited to Host a: Free Monthly ADHD Power Hour Working Group
Do you have a bunch of unfinished tasks that have been weighing on you for weeks that you Really Need to get done, but just can’t seem to bring to yourself to do them? For example, do you have any of these items sitting on your to-do list that keep getting put off:
-
That tedious spreadsheet you need to get started on for work?
-
A bunch of emails you need to compose and send out?
-
Other administrative, loose-end tasks for work?
-
Forms and applications, whether for yourself, your family, or for work?
-
Homework, reading assignments, or starting projects if you’re in college or taking a course/program?
-
Phone calls and making appointments?
-
Personal or household chores?
-
Any other tasks you’re actively avoiding because you feel that they are boring or will require a lot of effort to get started on?
If you would love to start checking off some of these items, then the Free Monthly ADHD Power Hour Working Group is for you!
What it is:
A designated one-hour block once a month where each attendee sets an intention for a specific, bite-size task to work on during this time. Everyone works on their intended tasks with their mics off and cameras on. Attendees are welcome to listen to their own music, bring fidget toys, or whatever else they usually use to help them focus because everyone will be muted.
This is a quiet co-working group to create this designated space for facilitating productivity through the benefits of social motivation and accountability. This is NOT a traditional “support group” where people talk, share, and problem solve their experiences.
Who it is for:
-Ages 18+
-People who have been formally diagnosed with ADHD, have suspected ADHD, or struggle with task motivation and completion and find that they work more productively in the company of others.
When:
The free monthly ADHD Power Hour Working Group will be held on the Second Thursday of each month from on the following dates: 11/12, 12,10, etc.
Why:
-
Less likely to make excuses to put off your intended blocked time- There is a sense of accountability by having to register for this working group like a scheduled appointment, and there will be others like you who are present trying to accomplish the same goal of finishing avoided tasks.
-
Clear beginning, middle, and end, and clear intention setting for this short work sprint session.
-
Working on a task in the presence of others can help boost motivation and a sense of responsibility, make it easier to get started and stay on task, and less likely to get distracted. It doesn’t matter that everyone may be working on something different because you’re seeing others also working on their own individual tasks alongside you.
-
A sense of support and connection, knowing that everyone signed up for this working group because of their shared struggles and hope that they can check off some of those dreaded tasks together.
Registration is required, and re-registration is required each month you would like to attend. The link to join the ADHD Power Hour Working Group will be sent once you register. Register even if you don’t know what you’ll work on now because chances are, something that needs to be done will come up!
