ADHD Center of Excellence

Hello and welcome! We’re glad we caught your attention and you decided to click on our page in your mission to seek professional help for your or your loved one’s executive functioning concerns. Whether you’re newly exploring the possibility of ADHD or you’ve already been diagnosed and are seeking meaningful support, you’ve come to the right place. At the ADHD Center of Excellence within Equilibria Psychological and Consultation Services, we specialize in helping individuals and families understand, manage, and thrive with ADHD.

Our Expertise

The ADHD Center of Excellence at Equilibria Psychological & Consultation Services was developed to ensure our clients receive specialized, evidence-based care. Our group of therapists is comprised of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed professional counselors, and they all:

  • Have earned or are working toward the ADHD-CCSP (Certified Clinical Services Provider) credential- One of the criteria for certification includes completion of at least 200 hours of providing direct care to clients with ADHD.
  • Undergo extensive, ongoing professional development focused exclusively on ADHD.
  •  Participate in regular consultations and training sessions to ensure the highest standard of care.

Our Services

We offer various treatment options for ADHD to address the real-life challenges that it can present, whether at work, in school, in relationships, or in daily routines. They can include:

  • ADHD Assessment & Evaluation- We collaborate with our assessment team at Equilibria if you are exploring the possibility of having ADHD so that you can receive a comprehensive evaluation to determine the sources of your struggles & obtain recommendations.
  • ADHD Behavioral & Symptom Management Strategies– We can work together to learn your strengths and how your brain works to develop a “system” that is effective for you to improve productivity, time management, and task completion – i.e. “externalizing” our executive function skills.
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy– We can work together to reframe negative self-talk, rebuild your confidence and self-esteem, manage emotion dysregulation and impulsivity, break unhelpful patterns, learn social skills, and develop healthy coping strategies to improve your quality of life and relationships.
  • Parent Education & Coaching– For children with ADHD, parents may be included as essential partners to reinforce effective strategies.
  • Career Counseling- Did you ever consider that perhaps you’re not always the source of the problem, but the fit between you and the job may not be ideal? Let’s explore jobs and career paths that are aligned with how you and your ADHD can function best.
  • Couples/Marital & Family Therapy– This form of therapy can help all parties to gain understanding of the relational dynamics that ADHD can impact and navigate those issues, as well as improve communication and reduce conflict.

Recognizing the Signs of ADHD

Can you or your loved one relate to the following?:

  • Difficulty focusing or getting easily distracted? Is that also negatively impacting your work or school performance?
  • Difficulty with organizing, planning, and/or managing long-term projects or multi-step tasks?
  • Difficulty getting started and/or completing tasks, even if you really want to do them?
  • Often procrastinating on tasks and typically needing a deadline or sense of urgency to start and complete tasks?
  • Feeling that it’s unbearable and very effortful to do tasks that are detail-oriented, repetitive, or those that you find to be “boring”?
  • Frequently forgetting, misplacing, or losing things?
  • Often feeling fidgety, being on-the-go, or that you’re “running on motor”?
  • Frequently interrupting people, blurting things out, being impulsive, or feeling easily impatient?
  • Often told you’re “not living up to your potential”?
  • Have any of these negatively impacted your academics, work performance, relationships, and/or other areas of your life?

Why Should I or My Loved One Get Treatment?

If you or your loved one has been experiencing the above descriptions throughout your whole life, whether that’s been a few years or 65 years, it likely has led to various repercussions ranging widely in severity- it can be anything from the constant feelings of frustration, self-doubt, overwhelm, and shame with yourself, to getting lower grades or getting written up at work for “stupid stuff” (e.g. careless errors, forgetting to turn in HW or work tasks), to failing out of school or being unable to keep a job for too long.

After repeatedly experiencing such situations, you might start to believe that there must be “something wrong” with you. However, these are Not Character Flaws! ADHD is not a reflection of your intelligence or worth; it’s a neurodevelopmental condition. While we can’t “change” the way the brains are wired, the symptoms of ADHD & the impacts they have on one’s lives are Treatable & Manageable.

Each person has their own unique set of life experiences, strengths, struggles, diversity factors and goals, so therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. Whether you’re working up the courage to try therapy for the first time or have been in therapy throughout most of your life, it’s important that you feel comfortable being your authentic self and talking about your concerns with your therapist. Therefore, I strive to create an emotionally safe place and a collaborative relationship where we can work together to achieve your goals. Through this process, I hope for you to also gain insight about yourself, experience personal growth, gain healthy coping responses, and/or break undesired patterns.

Hey there! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 10 years of post-master’s professional experience. My professional experiences range from social service-based roles with refugees and immigrants to clinical work with adolescents at-risk, adopted children and families, grief and loss across the lifespan, and managing ADHD and/or autism spectrum disorder in daily life. In addition to working directly with clients, I have also had the opportunity to be an educator as an adjunct professor at Holy Family University, teaching courses on interpersonal abuse and trauma, as well as grief and loss.

Unlike working with other healthcare professionals, therapy is a uniquely personal relationship so finding a therapist who feels like a ‘good fit’ for you is especially important. A compatible therapist is someone you feel safe enough with to be vulnerable, honest, and unfiltered. Clients who consider me a ‘good fit’ as their therapist appreciate a good sense of humor, are young at heart, might struggle with feeling “different” from others, and/or identify as “neurospicy.”

In addition to commonly used therapy interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), my therapeutic style is well reflected in my integration of Attachment-Based Therapy, Grief & Loss Competence, and Culturally-Informed Therapy in all of my work. For those of you searching for support with early developmental trauma and/or attachment concerns (either for yourself or children you are parenting), I am also experienced in the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) model, uniquely oriented for those impacted by adoption and/or foster care.

CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW)
  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Michigan

People may seek out therapy for a variety of reasons, such as needing guidance to make a decision, or building tools to better communicate with people in their lives. At other times, people may seek therapy because they may be struggling with a big life decision, have possibly experienced a trauma they want to work through, need guidance or simply a safe space with a listening ear as they adjust to our ever-changing world.

I enjoy helping clients to discover their inner resilience and build on it to live their best lives possible. My philosophy for therapy is, “it can be hard work, but who says we can’t have fun?” I believe that therapy is a wonderful tool to which everyone should have access and can benefit, moreover, it is something I am passionate about

CREDENTIALS:

  • Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Rowan University)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (Pennsylvania & New Jersey)
  • Trained trauma-informed clinician
