My approach to counseling starts with the belief that everyone has the ability to change for the better and the ability to define what “better” means to them. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. When working with children and families I utilize Mindfulness-Based Family Play Therapy (MBFPT) that is a collaborative approach to counseling. This means that there will be individual sessions, family sessions, parent meetings, acknowledgment of the challenges and successes, and even work with siblings when deemed necessary. MBFPT is a modality that works well for children who oftentimes lack the verbal skills needed to express themselves. Play therapy is a way for children to learn to better express themselves as well as for parents to be able to better understand children.
I provide adolescent and adult sessions that are centered around self-exploration, which can include identifying and understanding the sources of emotions, creating a collection of coping skills to manage symptoms, using sand tray through Contextual Family Therapy to safely revisit traumatic events, creating family genograms to better understand patterns in relationships across generations, and using other expressive modalities to meet clients where they are comfortable.
My experience includes, but is not limited to:
- Social Issues
- Trauma
- Bullying
- Depression
- Anxiety
- ADHD
- Changes in family and relationship dynamics
Credentials
- Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania
- Nationally Certified Counselor
- Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling- Fairleigh Dickinson University
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology- La Salle University
