Amanda Large (She/Her/Hers)
I look at therapy as a journey that the client and clinician take together, which often involves walking together through the darkness. As a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, I work alongside my clients to help them move forward and achieve the goals that they have for themselves and to help them live their best possible lives. It is very important to me that I provide a place that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive, which is what helps me work with my clients in this way.
While I look at most problems and situations through a cognitive-behavioral lens, I take a humanistic and person-centered approach to treatment. This means that I tend to emphasize the interaction between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, but I integrate techniques and ideas from various therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relapse Prevention, and others. I make an effort to tailor treatment to each individual client so therapy can be whatever each person wants or needs it to be.
I have worked with adults with co-occurring disorders in a variety of settings, including inpatient, residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient programs. I have experience and enjoy working with clients from diverse demographic backgrounds, with a variety of presenting problems, and varying levels of co-occurring interaction. Some of the most common disorders and presenting problems I have worked with include:
- Substance Use Disorders
