Victoria Hecker

Starting therapy may feel uncertain or scary. My goal as a therapist is to make therapy approachable and welcoming. I find it important to cultivate a non-judgmental, supportive space to work together. All of our emotions are important and serve some type of function, and we can work together to gain an understanding of these emotions and responses.

I specialize in working with adults with various concerns including but not limited to: eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, substance use, anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, food related trauma and various life stressors. I also enjoy working with loved ones who are supporting someone in their life through a stressor or transition.

In my work with eating disorders specifically, I recognize that eating disorders can present in many different ways and can be complex, impacting many areas of life. Whether you are in recovery from an eating disorder or just beginning the exploration of potentially disordered eating patterns, I strive to meet you where you are and create a supportive environment.

My clinical framework includes motivational interviewing, person centered therapy and utilizing concepts from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy, all with an empowerment approach. As a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, I believe the mind body connection is an important part of understanding our emotions, and if it is aligned with your goals, we can work together to create a new relationship with your body.
