Overview:
In this workshop, therapists will have the opportunity to look at the messages they received about sexuality growing up and how familial/cultural/other values can impact the way therapy is approached with clients. Participants will gain an understanding of an expanded view of sex and sexual diversity, move through a values clarification activity, learn the circles of sexuality, learn to nonjudgmentally approach client’s sexual concerns from a sex-positive perspective, and gain resources for further personal and professional development in adult sexuality.
Objectives:
- Describe examples in each of the 5 Circles of Sexuality
- Analyze two ways therapists can use a sex-positive lens to approach and support their work with clients
- Describe how to approach and answer sexuality questions nonjudgmentally
