Katelyn Sullivan
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I prioritize building a strong and trusting relationship with my clients. Creating a safe space to be vulnerable and feel supported is essential in my approach. I emphasize the strengths of my clients, help them shift their mindset to acknowledge their own successes, however big or small, and encourage growth. I view the most beneficial therapy process as being collaborative and developing goals that are personal, specific, and meaningful to my clients.
In our sessions, we will evaluate factors that have previously increased successes and barriers which have inhibited it. We will learn and practice strategies to decrease the intensity of emotions and come up with specific plans to experiment with to increase success. Having a background in family therapy, I focus on building a collaborative approach that supports my clients in evaluating their own support network and building communication and self-advocacy skills.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Areas I have experience in include treating anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, self-esteem, social skills, family conflict and stress, crisis response, and life transitions. In treatment, I emphasize self-reflection and utilizing strengths to improve mental health and well-being. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy approaches; however, I will always adapt my approach to best fit the needs of my clients.
