Understanding Eating Disorders and the Application of Cognitive-Behavior-Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E) Training Series
Program Description:
This is a training series aimed to provide a broad overview of eating disorders and the corresponding front line evidence-based treatment model for adults. The first portion of this series will focus on the introduction to eating disorders, including prevalence, assessment, diagnosis, presentation, etiology, and impact. The second portion of the series will focus on the treatment sequence, empirical support, and application of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy-Enhanced treatment model. Treatment modifications and management of pitfalls will be discussed with use of many real-life clinical case examples throughout the series.
Program Objective List:
Attendees will be able to identify and interpret specific measures used to assess vital elements related to eating pathology and treatment.
Attendees will be able to design collaborative, behaviorally driven treatment plans rooted in the cognitive-behavioral framework that targets the maintenance variables of eating disorders.
Attendees will be able to recognize when and how treatment plans ought to be modified to optimize outcomes.
Attendees will be able to use an individualized case formulation to implement objective behavior changes to break the cycle between an over-evaluation of shape and weight and eating pathology.
Attendees will be able to utilize the case formulation and data obtained from client self-monitoring to identify which module(s) of Stage 3 will best target the core psychopathology that has maintained the eating disorder.
Attendees will be able to identify when the broad form version of the protocol ought to be utilized.
Attendees will be able to identify when to appropriately and collaboratively terminate treatment with adequate relapse prevention planning.
Presenter:
Dr. Jenna DiLossi is the co-founder and clinical director of the Center for Hope & Health, LLC., an outpatient treatment center located in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. She specializes in cognitive-behavioral treatment models for eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, phobias, and other anxiety-related concerns. Dr. DiLossi is licensed as both a clinical psychologist and professional counselor in Pennsylvania with additional credentialing as a board-certified specialist in Behavioral & Cognitive Psychology via the American Board of Professional Psychology. She is also a Diplomate CBT-Certified Therapist and CBT-Certified Trainer/Consultant through the Academy of Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies in addition to a certified Prolonged Exposure Therapist and Supervisor/Consultant through the University of Pennsylvania. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Saint Joseph’s University and a clinical facilitator at the Minding Your Mind Foundation.
She obtained two master’s degrees and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her dissertation on “feeling fat,” weight-gain feedback, and perfectionism. Prior to completing her post-doctoral training at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety through the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. DiLossi worked as a primary therapist at the Renfrew Center for 5 years, completed pre-doctoral placements at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Cognitive Therapy, Drexel University’s Division of Neuropsychology, and an APA-Accredited Internship at Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems. She obtained additional specialized training in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E) from the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at the University of Oxford. Lastly, she co-authored a text for clinicians entitled Comorbid Eating Disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Clinician’s Guide to Challenges in Treatment scheduled for publication in 2023 via Cambridge University Press.
