Erika Kawamura

Each person has their own unique set of life experiences, strengths, struggles, diversity factors and goals, so therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. Whether you’re working up the courage to try therapy for the first time or have been in therapy throughout most of your life, it’s important that you feel comfortable being your authentic self and talking about your concerns with your therapist. Therefore, I strive to create an emotionally safe place and a collaborative relationship where we can work together to achieve your goals. Through this process, I hope for you to also gain insight about yourself, experience personal growth, gain healthy coping responses, and/or break undesired patterns.

So how do we do this? While I utilize more from the cognitive behavioral therapy and insight-oriented approaches, I take an integrative approach where I may incorporate mindfulness, communication skills, problem solving, examining relationship dynamics and patterns, improving emotional intelligence, and/or coaching. Depending on your goals and where relevant, I may also bring in approaches and education from lifestyle medicine to address your health and wellness concerns or how they may be related to your stress responses or emotional and mental health issues. There may be times where my background in organizational psychology can be helpful, such as if you’re struggling with work stressors, transitioning into a promotion or leadership role (while positive, can still be stressful and overwhelming!), or exploring career-related concerns.

With almost 20 years of experience, I provide individual therapy for adults and issues I treat include:

  • Anxiety
  • Adjustment Disorder
  • ADHD
  • Stress Management & Work/Life Balance
  • Life Transitions
  • Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Health/Wellness Concerns
  • Relationship & Family Concerns
  • Work issues, including career counseling, leadership development & coaching, & workplace wellness.
